About Shepherd’s Voice Magazine

Shepherd’s Voice Magazine is a periodical and internet media ministry that serves believers in the Sabbath and Holy Day keeping community.

In 2010, seeing the need for an independent publication free of corporate church influences, the Chicagoland Church of God conceived of the magazine and began publication. Others in the Church of God community in Canada in the United States also seeing the need for an interdependent publication  supported the work.

In 2011, another independent publication, Servants’ News, under the direction of Norman Edwards merged with Shepherd’s Voice. Norm joined the magazine as editor and contributor. With the merger of Shepherd’s Voice and Servants’ News, circulation increased dramatically.

In 2019 after eight years with Shepherd’s Voice, and after leaving the Port Austin Bible Campus, Norm stepped down as editor to focus his efforts in a different approach to outreach.

A New Focus

With the departure of Norm Edwards, the Managing Editor Jim Patterson along with other ministries contributing to the work recognized the need to move the Magazine in a direction that would have a greater focus on the internet than printed media. With that, the website was reconstructed in April 2019 in preparation of this new focus which continues to develop.

Shepherd’s Voice Magazine is now a 501(c)(3) as a media outreach.   Because Shepherd’s Voice Magazine is an independent not for profit outreach that is 100% volunteer without paid staff, it is free of denominational and corporate influences.  When free of these influences, experience has shown that the Truth of the Gospel can be expressed without bureaucratic limitations, or concern for member retention.    As a result we are not handcuffed concerning ourselves with popularity and perception – as we would be if any of the above circumstances were different. Readers will see this evident in the content of the magazine pages and website posts. Therefore the ministry behind Shepherd’s Voice Magazine along with the writers and other contributors associated with this work are able to express the Truth of God freely and encourage others to do so as well.
